| - It's hard to miss the giant roadside lollipop for Sweetie's, when driving on 480 past Ridge Rd. Here is what you'll find just off the exit: a MASSIVE candy warehouse, 36 holes of putt putt/mini golf and an old-school soda shop, serving ice creams and more. This review is for the soda shop.
Its interior is modern, bright and airy, with a couple of creative touches. Large metal milk cans are used as stool bases and art pieces, while some of the tables have swings to sit on instead of chairs. There's also counter seating, ala traditional soda shops. It was adorable! I saw a designated employee continuously cleaning off the tables, so none stayed dirty long. This gave an excellent first impression!
This place has over 200 different sodas, so the menu for them can seem a bit daunting. They seemingly have every American-made soda under the sun! Some unusual flavors you might find are Barf Soda, Grass Soda, Red Velvet Cupcake Soda, Wizard of Oz Soda and Pepsi products with real sugar. They also have Butterbeer, which should make Harry Potter fans quite happy.
Their ice cream menu wasn't quite as elaborate, but had about a two dozen tried and true favorites and seasonal specialties. We had an orange cream soda float with orange creamsicle ice cream, which was seriously amazing! Also, you can top your scoops at their serve yourself toppings bar, just like at frozen yogurt places. Some of their ice creams can be served in fun arrangements, as well (like a sundae that looks like a clown or a hotdog- with bun) and they also have Ohio-themed treats. They serve specialty floats, too!
Stopping here is great on a hot day, after playing a round of putt putt next door, and is also a good option for a fun date, or afternoon with the kids. I just wish Sweetie's was more centrally located for us east side folks!
