  • When the parking lot's not full, the southwest corner of 40th and Campbell feels like a warm hug. La Grande Orange is such a cute little eatery/grocery, and it is nothing like I've ever seen in the Phoenix area (granted, I've been away for quite awhile so I'm clearly no expert). I wished we hadn't been deterred by the $3 valet the day before, because when we stopped by the next day (with no valet in sight), I didn't want to leave. Everything smelled wonderful and I wanted to eat it all. They also carry specialty beverages, wine, and the coolest little gift items for yourself or someone else. To eat, I got the chocolate banana cupcake, which was delicious - still cool from the refrigerated display case, the cake was firm, yet very moist. I would love to go back for breakfast (which they serve till 5pm!), but alas, that won't be till the next time I visit Phoenix. Also, I liked the bathroom. It is clean and well stocked with t.p. and paper towels. However, it did take me a sec to figure out the deceptively discreet flusher.
