| - I am clearly in the minority, but my boyfriend and I were just not impressed with this buffet at all. We did the old "come for breakfast, stay for lunch trick", so we only paid a fairly reasonable $16 (the weekday breakfast price), but even at this price we were quite disappointed.
BREAKFAST
The breakfast buffet was pretty standard breakfast food, nothing really unique. There was a make-your-own-omelet station that we didn't try and the usual breakfast offerings of eggs, bacon, sausage, several kinds of potatoes, french toast, pancakes, waffles. The pastry selection was miserable, and had just some extremely mediocre croissants and some passable but not outstanding muffins. The french toast was probably the best thing I had, as it had some nice apple flling, but everything else was on the poor side of average, and there was just nothing unique or enticing at all. They did start putting up some lunch stuff at 10:30 or so, even though it didn't officially start until 11, and some breakfast stuff even started disappearing around then, so if having breakfast is important to you, get there before 10 am.
LUNCH
We didn't stay until noon, when apparently the sushi comes out, but we weren't really in the mood for that anyone. The lunch entrees were very limited in number, and I think I tried just about all of them. There was some disgusting, oily pizza, some Chinese food that my boyfriend had, several fish entrees with the grossest, fishiest tasting fish I've had in a long time (clearly frozen), chicken coq au vin that I didn't try because it was made with pork (and props to them for making that clear), and a carving station with turkey, chicken, and lamb. The turkey I had from there was extremely dry and tough. There was also a nice-looking salad bar, with a make your own option, as well as a number of pre-made salads to choose from.
DESSERT
The dessert selection was absolutely, hands-down the most disappointing part of the buffet. The selection was so limited (chocolate brownies, a couple different kinds of cake, cheesecake, some fruit tarts, and tiramisu), but more than that the desserts were just GROSS - the kind you would find on a college cafeteria line, not an elegant buffet. Everything was stale, congealed, and just plain unappetizing. The best thing I had was probably a chocolate eclair that was filled with runny chocolate sauce. It wasn't good, just edible to me because I love chocolate so much that anything with that much chocolate is edible.
Furthermore, the one dessert I was really looking forward to trying (chocolate covered strawberries) disappeared before I could get one. They started putting desserts out around 10:30. I saw a girl with a chocolate strawberry at 10:45, and immediately got up to grab one. I saw the empty plate where they had been on, so I figured they would be replaced soon. Nope. I wanted for awhile and then finally gave up. THen my boyfriend waited awhile, and then finally I asked the chef putting out the desserts and she said "No more strawberries." WHAT? For the day? How can put out one plate of something and then no more of them, at a buffet. Ridiculous. All I wanted was one damn strawberry!!!!
This buffet is comparable, or even worse than, buffets I've been to at the MGM and the Flamingo. Hell, the desserts were tastier at the buffet at the Excalibur. Not coming back.
