  • My sweetie and I found this place in Scottsdale on a very hot July evening. It looked cute and inviting and we decided to try it out. Far from the schizophrenic service mentioned in other reviews, our waiter(s)- all of them waited on us at one time or another- were great fun. Cheeky conversation mixed with good suggestions from the menu. We came up with entirely too much food, which was just fine with us as it was all delicious. Started with a minestrone soup which was better than mine, which is sayin' something because I make great soups. Then moved onto pasta with Alfredo sauce, good again, and I had chicken cacciatore while my partner had ravioli. The cacciatore was just how I would have made it- a light, spicy sauce rather than the gloppy sweet stuff most restaurants make- over a good sized chicken breast and spaghetti. It tasted like Grandma's Sunday dinners. I took most of it home- in fact it made two lunches for me. Of course, with all the yummy bread and the two first courses we had, naturally it would have been too much. The ravioli was great too. By the time we finished our meal, we were just so full- would have loved to have tried the canoli, we told the waiter, but just couldn't order another dish. A couple minutes later, he came over with a lovely filled canoli and two spoons- "Happy New Year", he exclaimed, centering the canoli in front of us. The only thing I can say that was a bit of a distraction in this great place was the Sinatra could have been just a tiny bit softer- although it was the perfect soundtrack to the dark set. Our service was attentive, conversational, and welcoming. If you are looking for formal or stuffy, this is probably not the place for you- service comes with a bit of a Jersey edge here. We are new part-time homeowners in the Phoenix area. Will we be back? You betcha. It was one of the most memorable evenings of our trip, and we can't wait to go back for more.
