| - While on vacation I brought my phone to All Mobile Matters (AMM) to have the charge port replaced. Lindsay K. checked the phone for various functions and discovered that the ear speaker wasn't working. I thought that was odd; after all, I hadn't noticed a problem with it (at least I thought so at the time).
The repair was delayed a day forcing me to call for an update. I was told that the charge port had been replaced and the ear speaker was now working. However, the microphones had failed while in their possession rendering the device useless. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that this was not their fault.
I minimally wanted to be able to charge the phone and access my data, so I paid the bill and took it home under the assumption that I could now do so. However, later that evening when I plugged it in, I was dismayed to discover that the phone's connection was the same as before. After a careful visual inspection with a flashlight, I concluded that the worn port had not been replaced.
I flew back to New York the next morning.
A day later I called and spoke with Lindsay who immediately put me on the defensive. She was adamant that the repair had been made and that I was the one who was mistaken. Unwilling to offer even a partial refund, my only option was to have the phone shipped back to them for inspection. I reluctantly agreed to do so - if AMM would be honest and own up to their botched repair. Lindsay would not answer my question and eventually hung up on me. Let me add that I did nothing to provoke her combative demeanor. I was forthright, but not rude. I have written several reviews on Yelp, the vast majority of which have been positive.
I immediately contacted my credit card company to file a dispute. Thankfully, they opened an investigation and reversed the charge.
A week later I had the phone inspected at an IBreakUFix outlet in Rochester. The technician confirmed that AMM had not correctly repaired the phone. However, they did so and the difference was evident.
The bottom line is that I was charged for a repair that was not made. To add insult to injury, AMM was unprofessional and downright nasty in their meager attempt to make things right. Caveat emptor.
