I've been going to Brass Armadillo since it first opened and I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
I think the hours are fantastic... 9am-9pm 7 days a week. One of my friends and I love going out to dinner and then heading to B.A. to browse around. The late hours are perfect for this...
It's pretty much the typical antique mall format... rows and rows of booths filled with everything imaginable. I always approach antique shopping like a treasure hunt (I collect colonial primitive americana items) and occasionally find something nostalgic that I remember my grandparents or parents having when I was a child. It's a matter of opinion and taste as to what you're searching for, but that makes it all the more fun digging around. Anything from any era... it's there!!
I like how the isles are labeled, so if I'm not sure about an item, I can remember which "street" it's on and go back later to find it.
I'm not too crazy about the isles that are strictly glass cases. I'm a tangible textile type person and like holding an item for a while before I decide to get it... I'd prefer the store to be entirely filled with booths and an occasional glass case like the other part of the store.
I love the overhead music and the restrooms are very clean. Staff is very friendly.
I've never eaten at the cafe, but it doesn't look very good... except maybe for a bottled water...
Which brings me to my next point... It's pretty hot in there... so if you're going in the wintertime, you're going to be uncomfortable walking around in heavy clothes, but in the summer time when you're wearing lighter clothes, it doesn't feel too bad.
Over all ... it's a great place to spend a few hours browsing around!!! See you there! :) I'll be the one salivating over an antique ball jar.
