Wow! I feel like we didn't go to the same bar referred to in so many other reviews.
We popped in for cocktails during happy hour on our way to the Miss Behave Gameshow at Bally's. We were expecting a mixology experience, but instead we were the only two people at a generic strip bar. The bartender told us they were switching over the cocktail menu which meant only three drinks on the list were available. Sadly, that left out the ones we both thought sounded best. I picked the Champagne on Deck which was pretty good and my husband ended up settling for a beer.
Our bartender while very pleasant, definitely isn't a mixologist. She didn't even suggest alternative cocktails she had the ingredients to make.
No bar should be a mixology bar only when a certain bartender is on duty. If a place is going to have that kind of split personality, then promote it as a basic bar. Otherwise, bring in skilled mixologists for every shift.
I'm just glad we hadn't invited friends to join us.
