I rented a car from the Phoenix airport and was told at the airport that I could remove the insurance later on once I found out whether I needed it or not according to my company policy. But when I arrived at this location in Scottsdale, I was told that the amount was too high to modify and that the employee there was not authorized. That only a manager would be able to change the contract, and that this particular location does not have a manager. At all. I also called support and had them talk to the employee, and they also mentioned that I'd need to go back to the airport to remove the insurance. This is ridiculous, as I've had the insurance removed via email for an Enterprise rental. This to me means that dollar rent a car purposely cripples their customer service, making it extremely inconvenient for the customer.
Be warned that in order to remove insurance from the policy, dollar rent a car requires you to go back to the original rental location.
