| - I've lived in this complex since July 2015; we started in a 2x2 on the main side (phase 1), then a few months ago we downgraded to a 1x1 on the back side (phase 2) since we weren't really using the extra space and our neighbors were awful. From jump, this place has been a trap. Within the first two months, it was a clear indicator that this place was going to be hell. Major issues with this place:
1. Management - They recklessly left a dumpster unsecured in the parking lot and one windy night it went rolling down the parking lot and hit my boyfriend's Camaro causing about $2,000 worth of damage. When I called to complain, they basically tried to place blame on Waste Management and gave us the run around to get it fixed. When Waste Management got back to us, (as I imagined) it was not their responsibility, as the complex is supposed to be sure that all waste receptacles are properly secured and not a hazard to tenants. When we followed up with the complex, of course they continued to play the blame game and needless to say, we had to basically eat the charge. No type of compensation was offered (rent discount, reimbursement, nothing).
2. Maintenance is a joke for sure. Their required inspections are just a way for them to go into your home and go through your stuff. for sure a joke. We got a notice that maintenance needed to do a walk through and check our AC units and replace the air filters (a month into our original lease). The day came and my boyfriend and I both had the day off and were in bed. They first tried to unlock the door (no courtesy knock) and the top latch was secured. So they started trying to basically break the door down. When my boyfriend got to the door, they did not apologize for acting insane, just barged in. When they left, we walked into the living room, the closet door was open (for what reason did you guys need to go through our closet?), the kitchen cabinets were left open (again, why were you in the cabinets when your notice said the AC related inspections) and our kitchen drawers were left rummaged through and opened. How intrusive is this. At that point, we decided maintenance was not allowed in our home unless we were home. This was invasive and completely out of line. This past February, we decided to downgrade. We moved into the new place in March and a few days into our new apartment - I requested that they put a vanity/medicine cabinet into our bathroom for proper storage. They had some old school 2 inch by 12 inch sliding gross looking cabinet that had rust and mold throughout. They had about twelve excuses why it couldn't happen. I had to go off and bug them for two days until they finally agreed. Then it took about a week and a half because they had to order it and supposedly it came broken, then someone took it for another apartment and so on and so forth. It took forever. Upon them installing, my boyfriend camped out in the master walk in closet to spy on them (crazy but these maintenance guys are sus af) and good thing he did, he heard them going through my dresser drawers (underwear drawer was left open when he checked). I mentioned it to the office, NOTHING was done or ever said again. How invasive.
3. Cleanliness of buildings - my neighbors are gross af. The apartment across the way leaves their dog piss pads in front of their door EVERYDAY. They leave and wont take it out. It is summertime, it has been 100+ for the last two months. Why do I need to smell your dogs piss?! Not to mention, that same neighbor chain smokes like 6 cigs in one sitting and leaves her butts on the stairs. Like who does that? I mean, not surprised since this same person leaves their pissy dog pads at their front door like they like the smell of piss but come on. That is gross. The neighbor next the them leaves their family size trash bags and boxes in front of their door. Granted, they take it out same day or following morning, but still, it is so gross. The neighbor across from them and next to us uses grocery bags as trash bags and will pile them up at their door. HOW FUCKING GROSS. I don't know what kind of people do this but this is just disgusting and came out of left field. When we decided to move to this side, we came over a few times to see what the environment was like and it wasn't like this. I understand the dumpster is far from our building (not really though, a little exercise never killed anyone) but the fact that that I have called the office multiple times and they have done nothing about it was the icing on the cake.
Needless to say, when my lease is up in six months, I'm move out. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I'd rather pay more and get a better living environment than save a few bucks and live like a hoodrat. Management does nothing to resolve the issues brought to them. Its truly annoying more than anything. It's a waste of money to be annoyed in the one place that should be your safe haven from the outside world.
