The bad - sales:
I own an escape and after my wife's car decided to die, we went here to buy another.
After pre-approving online and picking the car, we headed to the dealership. When we got there, we found out that they count cars in transport, though they might be weeks out, as in-stock inventory. Needless to say, they had no Ford Edge products on the lot, nor were they getting any for weeks.
Wonderful.
Let's look for another Escape, I thought. We drove to the offsite lot and found one that would fit our needs. My wife drove it, liked it and we agreed to buy it. After sitting for over 45 minutes waiting for the salesman, we found out that the car we wanted was already sold and had to start the whole process over again.
From there on, it got worse. I was promised a few incentives if we bought the car that day. Well, I had to get the sales manager and service manager involved to close the deal. Ridiculous.
The worse - service:
Read the other complaints about disappearing appointments. It has happened to me as well, but since my car is relatively new and my mouth is big, I have been able to get in for service.
They can't get the simplest of tasks correct, like resetting oil meters after an oil change, even when you write in in BOLD CAPS on the service request.
They never have parts in stock to fix even the easiest of issues. Everything takes days to get. Since I have rental coverage, it should be no big deal, but the rental agency, Budget, only has dirty smaller vehicles to offer. Additionally, I have to cover the cost differential. What? Sounds like they are giving out substandard product to rent, jacking the cost and banking the difference. What a scam. That is what I get for my upgraded warranty coverage.
I have had one of the vehicles in the shop three times in the last three months. Nothing major, a creak in the rear suspension and a leak in the door stripping. Three attempts to get these fixed to no avail. Three times I had to hassle with bringing the car in for nothing. Now I am forced to go to another dealership to let them have a crack at fixing it.
Now for the capper:
Fast-forward to this past week. The spouse hit a curb and bent a tie rod. Popped the tire. I knew it would be somewhat expensive. THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS to rebuild the whole front-end expensive is ridiculous. Not believing the damage could be that bad, I took the car to two other service centers. Guess what? It was just the tie rod - the inner and outer. $500 out the door with genuine Ford parts and a warranty.
Yeah, that service crew over there has quite the operation going. I have found another dealership with a reputable, so far, service department that actually wants to listen to and work with their customers and not try to bleed thousands of extra dollars out of their wallets.
Do yourself a favor and take your care to another dealership. At the very least, you couldn't get worse service.
