  • My boyfriend and I brought our 2009 Toyota in to this location on a Wednesday because the car was shuddering a bit when idling. At first we were told by Luis that it was the intake manifold. Not knowing too much about car engines we took his word for it and agreed to the $1012 cost. A couple days later we get a call, it's Luis again, saying that now it's the alternator. Trying not to be too suspicious at this point, because we regularly cared for the car with our family mechanic back in CA, we agreed to the extra 400 something he quoted us. $1400 later we are picking up the car and we are told that now the air compressor is bad and needs to be replaced so when we drive the car "don't turn on the air because the car will stall out". I have never taken a car to a mechanic and gotten it back in worse condition than when I left it. We didn't turn on the air and the car was stalling out on us anyway, on the freeway and at stops. We have a one year old son so this is extremely dangerous. Furious at this point we went back to them and I tell the assistant manager I want my money back because the car is worse than when I left it (it wasn't stalling out on us before we brought it here) she goes and gets Luis and he tries to explain to me that it's necessary to change the air compressor (and that is an $800 job.) I responded to him by saying that we were not leaving the car with them anymore because there was no way for us to know when they were going to stop finding new problems that were not there before. Luis was guessing what the problem might be and every time he got it wrong he was charging us for it. Doesn't seem like a real good mechanic if your guessing at what you do. If I made that many mistakes at that cost in my line of work, I'd be fired. They told us that if we wanted the money back he would need to take the parts out of the car. Can you believe that?! I told them that I would just pay for the parts then and I wanted the rest of the money back. I was told by the assistant manager that they would have to call their district manager and would get back to me. This was Monday and still no word. Please do not bring your car here. These people a full of shit and while they spit it real nice, it's still bullshit. We are honest, working people just trying to make a living and support our son. For a business to take advantage of people and their lack of knowledge in a certain area is really distasteful and ugly. It's anything for a buck at this Meineke. If you want them to create problems for your car and charge you for them, then go ahead and bring it in. Please take notice that most good reviews for this place are only for simple oil changes or brakes. Do not be fooled and do not let them touch your en... I responded to the customer service response on Monday and still no response. It is now Sunday.
