Some very good friends of ours highly recommended H & R. The Happy Hour menu seemed like a really great deal. So after reading all the reviews, we decided to invite my husbands boss and wife out to celebrate his birthday. We made a reservation for Saturday night at 7:45pm. We arrived a little early, and the very pleasant hostess showed us right to our table.
Aly, our server was pleasant and efficient. She gave us a quick rundown of the menu offerings and her recommendations. We took a few minutes to peruse our options. Our guests each went for the pork chop options and we decided on a New York strip and hanger steak, all 4 part of the 1/2 price Happy Hour menu. Each entree includes one side, so we collectively ordered 2 truffle mac and cheese and 2 "sprouts and swine" (Brussels sprouts and bacon) . We also ordered the bruschetta flatbread as an appetizer.
The food came out pretty quick, and every item was delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was very good considering how busy the place was. I really enjoyed the intimate feeling of the bustling dining room, yet it never felt crowded or intrusive. The dim lighting added to the ambience, and the background music levels were just right. The freshly made donuts for dessert were a fantastic birthday surprise and the perfect ending to a delightful meal. We will definitely be returning sooner than later.
