| - Furious and starving are the last two things you want to leave a restaurant. In the past, when the Pom screwed up an order of mine, they apologized and gave me a gift certificate (anywhere from $2-10). This I found odd, because other places I go, if the waiter or cook forgets and puts the allergen(s) in my food, I usually get a meal comped. I thought that was the industry standard. I am not saying I expect this, but I found it odd, as the first time it happened, the $2 didn't even cover the tax on the meal. Honestly, all I *really* want is my food, free of things that would cause me a trip to the hospital.
I am a regular customer; I come in there at least once a month with a group of friends. Being that I have a lot of food restrictions, I usually order the same delectable item. However, I was told to have them make it from scratch (the rainbow wrap) because they pre-make them every morning, and in the past, when I ordered it without my allergens - raw tomatoes and onions - they've forgotten, or didn't pick out all of them, and once had to remake it *twice* because the cook was totally on autopilot.
One would think that at a place like this, food allergies would be understood and accommodated without question. However, the other day I arrived with my group, and when I attempted to order, was told, sorry, we're too busy to accommodate you. So it was a question of either order something else (which I either couldn't have or didn't want) or take my life into my hands. That is just not a fair option.
As it was, I was so hungry I couldn't wait an hour or two for the line to decrease, so I left. I thought about picking up something at TJ's and bringing it back there to dine with my friends, but why? Clearly they don't want my business, so why patronize a restaurant that doesn't want to sell me food?
