| - The Cleveland Animal Protective is a well-organized, clean and caring shelter for dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals.
I've been an adopter, long-time donor, and have volunteered with this wonderful organization. The APL is a non-profit, no-kill shelter with no government ties, and they depend on community donations to operate. From a donor standpoint, they are always very clear about where my money is going, and I appreciate their regular communication. I like to donate to the second chance program, which provides life-saving medical procedures to animals that might not otherwise be given the opportunity to live a fruitful life.
If you're trying to adopt, the process is very easy. The animals are personality tested, have solid medical record/history and you can spend time playing with them in a closed room to see if you get along. The APL staff are genuinely interested in getting all the dogs a good home, especially the older ones (which I really appreciate).
Aside from all this, if you know of a suspected case of animal cruelty, you can also call their cruelty hotline at 216-377-1630 for their Humane Investigations department. The officers check it 7 days a week. If you see something, say something. We are lucky to have such an incredible organization looking after our furry friends. 5-stars in every way!
