| - Green tea ice cream can taste good, but matcha softserve is far superior. And to satisfy my matcha softserve cravings, I will default to Tsujiri.
So far I've had the matcha softserve, matcha cream puffs, and their matcha mochi, and they've all been delicious.
For the matcha softserve I opted for kuromitsu and genmai toppings. I found that the kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) was a perfect compliment to the bittersweet flavour of the strong matcha softserve. And the genmai (roasted brown rice) provided a nice crispy texture to the softserve.
The matcha cream puffs are an instant crowd-pleaser as an after dinner dessert. Firm puff pastry on the outside, with decadent matcha cream on the inside.
The matcha mochi are pretty huge, and just bursting with delicious matcha cream. I think this may be the first mochi I've ever had...and if that's the case, then I have no frame of reference of how really good mochi is supposed to taste, so take what you will from this review.
And as much as a handful of Yelper reviews like to piss on the wait times at Tsujiri, I've never had to wait in line, and I've visited at 8:30pm on a Friday night, and 1pm on a Saturday. Also, if there is a line, last time I checked we're all born with legs, so there's always the option of coming back another time.
I still have yet to try the matcha sundaes, but for now I can easily say that Tsujiri is able to satisfy all my matcha-dessert needs.
