| - This brand-new hotel opened in April 2010 and is pretty much perfect for a stay in Madison. It's within walking distance to the University, the State Capitol, and the many restaurants along State Street. Cab fare from the airport will run about $20, but they also have a shuttle van.
The room was clean and has a mini fridge and a giant TV that can be turned either in the direction of the couch or the bed. Closet is small but you probably don't need to be packing so many clothes anyway. Gym is basic but nice, you can plug your headphones in and watch TV directly on the treadmill screen. Didn't try the pool, but it looked nice (it's indoors).
Free cold breakfast in the mornings (fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels), or you can buy hot food, I think 24 hours. I ordered a turkey wrap for dinner one night and it was pretty good.
I don't mean to sound like an advertisement but there really was nothing to complain about during my stay. Front desk people were always friendly and helpful. Thanks, Hyatt Place!
