| - I've been here probably a dozen times since my last review, so I figured an update was in order. Midnight Diner provides tasty diner food at fair prices, but unfortunately the iffy and slow service really overshadows that.
FOOD/PRICES
I'll start with the best part of Midnight Diner: the food. I have tried a fair share of the menu, and everything tastes great. The fried chicken is crisp and well-seasoned, the burgers are juicy and topped with fresh toppings, the sides are prepared well, etc. The prices are also fair for the most part, which is great. Dessert is a bit on the expensive side, though. There really is not much more to say here: excellent diner food at fair prices.
SERVICE
The service at Midnight Diner is incredibly slow. It's not the kitchen, as plates frequently pile up in the window, and it is not a result of the place being understaffed. Whenever I bring a friend to Midnight Diner who has never been, he/she always remarks how many staff the place has. I think it's just poor training and bad management. I had the unfortunate experience of eating during a shift change once, and it was a disaster. No one knew who the host/hostess was, no one knew which tables they had, no one knew who was supposed to be cleaning, etc. Ordering dessert, getting a refill, or trying to pay is always a nightmare because of how slow and absent the servers are.
Overall, I really like Midnight Diner's food, but the incredibly slow service prevents me from going often.
