| - Going to try to keep this civil and a long story as short as possible.
I bought a BMW from this dealership a bit over a year ago. I will fully admit, at the time I wasn't as educated as I should have been about what I was buying and what I was trading in, unfortunately Chapman BMW on Camelback decided to take full advantage of that. I worked with a salesmen named Savas. First of all, he sold me the worst car I've ever bought and hopefully the worst one they had on their lot. Within two weeks of purchasing it the first rainstorm came and we found the wiper blades were shot, old, cracked and didn't work. We also found that while they said it had a fresh oil change it didn't (found out by the onboard computer and by checking ourselves to see how black and dirty it looked). At this point, Chapman was nice enough to do what should have already been done, replace the wipers and give it a fresh oil change, but this was just the beginning of the problems.
So far, my car has needed a full brake job on both the front and rear brakes. Rotors and all which were shot. I've barely put 15,000 miles on the car thus far and the brakes were completely gone, both front and rear, which of course on a BMW is no cheap task. At the time I was in Phoenix and didn't need it, but upon driving into colder weather found that the heater does not work. Only the defrosters will blow heat out and no matter what is done with the vents and settings, so if you want any heat it's only coming through the defrost area. The windshield wipers also only work on "fast" mode, none of the other settings work. Both headlights have also gone out since having it and the radio has a glitch where the base will go completely out at times. Also, right after purchasing the car the trunk decided to stop opening and I had to take it back to Chapman for them to fix it.
As if it wasn't bad enough that they sold me one of the biggest lemon's of a BMW in the southwest they completely ripped me off on it. I bought it for about $2,200 more than it should have been sold for at that time. Halfway through the process Savas actually said the price on it was wrong and that it was $500 more. What a nice way to make some more commission, I'll admit I was a fool but what a dishonest thing to do. Not only did I buy my car for about $2,200 more than it should have sold for (in excellent condition) at the time but I traded MY car in. I found out a month or so later that the car I traded in should have brought me at least $1,800 more at the time in TRADE IN value and mine was in pristine condition, full service, needed nothing. So they ended up rolling over money that shouldn't have been and overselling me a car.
Here's where it get's interesting... After several months I was so unhappy with my purchase that I called them up. I had actually posted a review for them on Yelp at that time, but they told me if I would just delete it they would help me make things right and get into a fair purchase. When I spoke to the manager Nick on the phone he laughed and said "Well it's too bad, no one held a gun to your head did they?" How unprofessional. Luckily I got in contact with a very nice fellow named Lyle. Lyle was sympathetic to my situation, told me I didn't have to deal with Savas anymore and said he would help me get into a better deal and better car. He was basically going to let me trade this car back in for $2,000 less than I had bought it for, which was still a hit but I could get into something more... Reliable? Keep in mind, this car sold for just a tick under 20 grand and was only 6 years old with less than 100k miles on it.
After awhile, I finally got back in contact with Chapman as they had something within my price range that could get me out of the cursed car I had purchased. I showed up and EVERYONE denied having ever known a man named "Lyle" who was supposedly the used car sales manager at the time. Unfortunately, I got to work face to face with "Nick" to try to make a deal work. He offered me close to HALF of what I had bought the car for just months prior admitting it wasn't worth anymore than that.
My whole experience with Chapman BMW was a nightmare. The car has had so many gremlins and problems I can't count them all and I was completely ripped off. ALWAYS make sure you do your homework on cars, especially when dealing with Chapman BMW. Even if it seems like a good deal at the time you will later find out just how bad they can screw some one over.
EDIT for comment from Chapman: Haha! I think not. The review was removed at that time as I stated because I was told if I did that you folks would work something out with me. Again, Lyle was the one who was working with me and he "disappeared." When I tried to get the issue resolved it was NEVER resolved and believe me I tried. I simply did not repost the review at the time. As time has gone on I've found out just how low quality of a car I was sold and just how much I was ripped off.
