| - This restaurant is indeed a hidden gem, and I am so pleased to have finally discovered it. The Royal is nothing to look at from the outside, but when you step inside- wow! The lobby is whimsical and quirky, with a multicolored piano and a shuffleboard table.
When you open the door to the Barrymore, prepare to be even further amazed. It is dark, artfully decorated, intimate, and perfect for a date night. There is a gorgeous patio with fire pits and heat lamps, as well. This is not a large restaurant, so I would imagine that it gets rather busy on weekends, as we had a 7p reservation on a Wednesday night and still had a 10-15 minute wait.
The service was impeccable, our server was friendly, but not too casual, and offered great suggestions and displayed a great knowledge of the menu.
The food- amazing! From the bread basket, to the grilled octopus, to the steak, to the salmon, it was all beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and delicious. The prices were also very fair based on the quality of the meal, and the portions were just right. And even though we didn't get dessert, the complementary macaroons were just the right sweet touch to end the meal.
I will definitely be back- the Barrymore is top notch!
