| - I went in to purchase a second car, and after an excellent experience buying my first car from an Earnhardt dealer, I was excited to purchase from them again. Times apparently have changed. I remember my sales associate previously, a few years back, made me so excited for my purchase and treated me like I was valued, this time around the sales associate couldn't be bothered. I saw a great deal online and decided to pursue it, but was told they never had a vehicle I described and I was mocked for thinking it would be at that price if I had. My husband is in the legal field and I work as an investigator, we have a decent income, but from the moment I said I was looking for a deal, I felt judged. It was as if because I was not purchasing brand new I wasn't worth their time, the associate did not ask my price range or even knew what he had in stock. When I got home I questioned whether I even wanted a new car, not if the new generation of car salesman were like this, I worried if the next dealership I went to would be a similar experience, as if I wasn't worth the money I came into spend. I do have advice for my fellow shoppers, do not window shop ahead of time and if you want to invest in the people, look elsewhere, I know I will.
*UPDATE*
I just finished my car shopping today. I was originally looking for a used car, but after visiting Big Two Mitsubishi, where I was treated like a valued customer, I ended up buying a brand new vehicle. The sales manager, Carl Burk, greeted my husband and I the moment I arrived. Not once did I feel undervalued. Upfront he asked what my down payment was and the features I was looking for, then not only did he get me an awesome deal, but he did it in a brand new vehicle. After the experience, I am sure that if the right sales associate had greeted me at Earnhardt Chevrolet, it would not have taken me much to purchase a new Equinox, I love the vehicles, but because of the dismissive attitude of the sales associate I walked away with what they deserved, nothing.
