  • I have to say it was a bad experience. I'll boil it down: service was terrible, food is overpriced, quality of the food is definitely far from Japanese, let alone Japanese-American fusion; I probably would've had better service and food at the Pizza Hut down the street. Here's the full story. My friends and I came here as a last resort on a Friday night. I should've listened to the alarms in my head... The place was pretty empty and the decor screamed "we're attempting to be authentically Asian" by using replicas of the Chinese stone soldiers that were randomly placed around the restaurant. Also to sell that they were a sushi restaurant, they sold only Japanese imported beer (not bad, but it was $9 for a stout I ordered). The hosts (who turned out to be our server and a bartender) just told us to sit anywhere. We sat down and waited. No server, no water, not even a menu until the bartender/hostess took notice and got us settled. Food was overpriced. I had udon ($8) and it was clearly piss poor. The udon noodles tasted like overcooked ramen noodles. The broth was salty and wasn't anywhere near to actual udon broth; it kind of reminded me of instant ramen. What also surprised me was the vegetables they decided to toss in (who puts broccoli in an Asian soup!?). Their sushi wasn't worth the price. An order of Unagi nigiri was $6 for two pieces! The size of the Unagi wasn't bad, but I couldn't get the natural flavor of the eel because it was drenched in sauce; obviously this is a sign that the sushi chef is covering up their lack of confidence in what they created. Obviously at this point we wanted out. It took us a good 15 minutes to flag down our inattentive server for the check. He drops the check and we realized he didn't split it so spent another 10 trying to flag him (or anyone) down. Luckily the bartender, who was more attentive, saw us, cleared out dishes, took our check, and tracked down the server. I'm sorry to say that this place is really poor. I do like Asian fusion, but this was horrendous and wallet snatching. Normally I'm a believer in second chances, but I think this experience takes the cake. Take my review lightly if you want, but just know what you'll be getting into.
