| - Here's a copy of my letter to Autozone. They don't want your business. I received a non-appologetic response to this note from Autozone Customer Care that told me to bring in flyers and talk to management and that management can refuse to price match if they want to.. So, maybe Autozone customer service should have just sent me a picture of their middle finger.. it would have been more concise and to the point.
"I am 54 years old and have been rebuilding engines and working on anything that moves pretty much my entire life. I am also a registered Engineer and have worked professionally in that field for 35 years.
I arrived at this store (East Tropicana, Las Vegas) this morning to get a few items along with a gallon of transmission fluid. When checking out I asked the manager, Brenda, if she would please price match Walmart on this fluid and was told, "We don't price-match Walmart." I told her that as an experienced mechanic I have bought items here many times and have had them price-match this exact item several time before. Her reply was, "Well it wasn't me. (pause) And we don't match Walmart, they are a wholesaler." My reply was that they certainly are not a wholesaler, they have a public storefront just up the road. Her reply, again, was stoic and firm, "I won't price-match Walmart". She continued that they only price-match similar stores, which I take to mean you only price match those stores that have the same pricing as you do, meaning, no price-matching that matters at all.
You might as well post a sign saying you don't price match, or that you will as long as it doesn't result in a price reduction.
I did not buy the oil, and told her that I would probably never come back to Autozone.
From there, I drove across the street to O'Reilly's and was courteously served, price matched, and treated with respect.
So, you have lost a good customer and O'Riellys has gained one.
I think you should post this on your "testimonials" section as it is indeed a legitimate and true testimonial that accurately reflects your store policies."
