  • Shame on you!!! I rented a truck for 2 days to pick up personal belongings in another state, I was traveling alone. On my way back the truck broke down in a remote area where I had no phone service and nothing around. I had to walk 2 1/2 miles in 111 heat to get to a phone, a visitor center that was closing. I called Enterprise and was told a tow truck would be there in 45 minutes and to not return to the truck. 2 hours later a trooper came and asked if I needed assistance, he was able to get a call to Enterprise again where I was informed it would be another 6 hours at best and to not return to the vehicle. 4 hours into this I was bitten by red ants all over my feet, sunburned and had no food or water, I was asking strangers for food and water. The trooper retuned to check on me again and I asked him to return me to the truck so I at least had shelter of which he did. 6 1/2 hours after this started the tow truck shows up and informs me that Enterprise will only take me backwards (opposite direction of my destination) 45 miles then I will have to get a motel on my own. I told the driver to take me in the correct direction until I get phone service to call them yet again. I called Enterprise a 3rd time and she informed me I was only able to be towed 50 miles (their truck broke down, I did nothing wrong). I said absolutely not and told her to instruct the driver to tow me to my destination, she said no he will tow you to the closest city and will unhook me and she will call another tow service to come from the city of my origination and that would take another 6 hours. She instructed me to get a motel, that they would NOT pay for. I lost it and told her no I would no longer accept this behavior and she was to approve taking me to my final destination, after a long hold she said they had approved it. I finally arrive 10 1/2 hours later (a total of 104 miles travel in the tow truck). I call Enterprise at 8am to try to explain what happened & the manager tells me "I have an office full of people can I handle these customers and then get back to you" I said absolutely not, at what point is Enterprise going to make me a priority? He listened to my experience and said he would call me back, 2 hours later he calls back and tells me their top mechanic and his dear friend has inspected the truck and nothing is wrong, he instructed me to go get the vehicle and continue my trip. So I head over to the yard and they inform me they have not even looked at the vehicle and don't even know why it was there. I explain what I was told and he said he cannot let me take the vehicle and that he must find a replacement and I must remove my property. So again I'm sitting in the hot sun waiting for a replacement vehicle. Finally it comes, I unload all of my belongings and take it home. I go to return the replacement vehicle and not only have they added a day to my rental but are only willing to split the bill in half. One of the employees in the office even said if that happened to my mom, heads would be rolling. I ended having to pay $68.00 to be treated like I was creating a big problem for Enterprise, so sorry your vehicle broke down and I needed your assistance . I have never in my life been treated so poorly due to a situation that was not my fault. Actually while I was waiting for the 2nd row truck an Enterprise employee had called and left a voice message explaining it was going to take 6 hours and she LAUGHED and said call if you need anything else! Insensitive Absolutely disgusting behavior and disgusting lack of customer service. You need to treat your customers right, especially when your product fails!!!! Shame on you!!!!
