| - I had heard such good things about Gateway clinic that when I came up with a situation that I needed help solving someone from Craigslist suggested calling this clinic.
The situation: a neighbor found an injured dog, she thought maybe had been hit by a car; she put posters up all around but to no avail, she then asked for my help and suggestions. This neighbor wanted to find the owner but she would be willing to keep the dog, if necessary. Consequently, she did not have the money at the present time for vet bill, which she knew, would entail x-rays, due to the injuries. I put an ad on Craigslist and other internet sites. It was at that time that it was brought up that I should call Gateway Animal Clinic to see if they had any suggestions on an organization that might help this pup. The receptionists answer was to "Call animal control and if these people cannot afford to pay a vet then they should not have the dog!" This office person then went on and on about how expensive pets were, with shots, food, etc. I finally put a stop this haranguing by raising my voice and telling her I did not call her to listen to her telling me who should be allowed to own a pet but to get this dog some much needed help. Could she please recommend someone? I was so shocked and dismayed by the attitude from this vet's office; all this office person did was to have a determined attitude of blame on the person that rescued this animal. No questions on the dog at all, how much pain might the dog be in, what were the injuries, nothing?
To summarize, this woman, at the vet's office, appeared to be a very uncaring human being. Not one ounce of concern over the dogs well being. Are these folks (Gateway Animal Clinic) that oblivious to what happens to an animal at animal control or even the so-called shelters? Needless to say, this clinic had no suggestions or answers to help except to turn him over to the most uncaring organization! I have been a volunteer for these animal control groups and would not send my worst enemy to them. So no, I have no respect for this Gateway clinic, the vet may be a very caring person but you have to get past the indifferent and insensitive front office to find out. So no, I could nor would I recommend this animal clinic.
