  • HORRIBLE. HATE. AWFUL. KILL IT WITH FIRE. i am SO sad to have to say this, because historically the plaza is just amazing, and the showroom is gorgeous and i love freemont street. i just spent four nights in the plaza for a convention, and i am glad to be home. if the convention is there again next year, i will most definitely be staying elsewhere. the room we got had a broken air conditioner. we didn't notice right away since we were out much of the time, but really? in vegas? in 108 degree heat? the bathtub didn't hold water, the shower curtain was impossible to close, the sink backed up with GRAY water, there was no information in the room about the hotel at all. the ice machine broke, but hey, the elevators are fast as hell. stomach-turning fast. the pool was sad; concrete with a relatively small rectangular pool in the middle, some canvas cabanas, and no lifeguard. great idea, let the people drink on a rooftop pool with no lifeguard on duty. the food selection in the plaza is abhorrent. firefly is quite good (i wrote a separate review for them) and the jerky store pretty much saved my life. without turkey jerky, dried apricots and mixed salted nuts i think i may have starved. the staff was friendly enough, but there seemed to be only 5 bellmen for the entire hotel. for a convention weekend. the shows we saw in the rat pack showroom were great- but the bartenders charged for top-shelf liquor without asking, and then upon my arrival home, i find i have FOUR charges on my account that equal nearly double what i actually spent there. in summation: no. just no.
