People give this place a lot of crap for being overpriced but it depends on what you buy. I was surprised to see bags of six plump oranges for $2 (and they tasted great). Bean sprouts go in a big bag for $1.99 (bigger than the bag sold at Safeway for the same price). Periodically there are good deals on soy sauces and sesame oils and gochujang. Veggie dumplings in a big bag go for $4. I don't remember ever feeling like, "Oh crap, I spent way too much here!"
But the reason I wrote this review was to rave about the customer service. I totally effed up and thought I could make do without a cart. So I had an arm full of groceries, including some tubed tofu. While looking at something else, I dropped a tubed tofu and it shattered on the ground. Sheepishly, I picked it up and decided to just pay for everything and leave. The girl at the counter told me to exchange it for another. I told her it was my fault and that I would pay for it, but she insisted that I should get a new one anyway.
That was extremely kind of her. I still feel embarrassed by that ordeal. Moral of the story is, don't be like me. And shop here, it's always good to shop at places run by kind people.
