Being a home brewer, I try to make it a point to stay on top of the ever expanding brewery scene in Charlotte. Needless to say, I was excited to hear that a new brewery was coming in the Plaza Midwood area. With the well established brewing areas of Noda and Southend, it is nice to see the brewery scene expanding to other parts of the city. All in all, a great addition to the brewery scene that kept up with the quirky atmosphere of Plaza Midwood.
My wife and I went to Legion on Valentines Day (I know, how romantic), and ended up ordering a flight. We got the heavier beers at the bottom of the list, which included an IPA, a wheat beer, and a russian imperial stout. My favorite was the imperial stout - a great choice when the high outside is 30 degrees.
The taproom itself was also worth a visit. On top of chalk boards to leave your $0.02 and the dark wood interior paneling, they also had a neat feature where the tap room extended into the brewery in the form of an overhang. A cool spot to hang out and watch the beer you're drinking being brewed.
Overall all the beers were great and I enjoyed this cool space to hang out. I look forward to going back and seeing what other combinations of beer they come up with in the next few months.
