| - I always appreciate Marriott Suites for the large living spaces and comfortable rooms; the Scottsdale Old Town location does not disappoint! The room decor helps you get into the "Arizona spirit" without being kitschy or over-the-top. Thick, comfortable mattress on the bed and a sofa on which you can actually sit and relax (a rare find in hotel-land). As with all Marriott Suites, there is a large living/sitting room with a sofa and chairs, as well as a desk/workspace, a wet bar, fridge, and coffeemaker. French doors separate this from the bedroom - and you can get to the bathroom and WC from either. Plenty of room to stretch out!
The lobby is nicely appointed and spread out enough to allow for intimate small gatherings without being crowded. There is also a patio off the lobby/ restaurant (which I had hoped would be open, but 75 degrees is too cold in AZ, I guess!) This location can't be beat - I came for work, but it's surrounded by venues (Giants spring training will raise the rates here soon enough, I'm sure), and it's within walking distance of the Old Town shops and restaurants, which makes for great exploring.
The food in the 3rd Avenue Grill is very good! I had a filet and it was absolutely perfectly cooked (blue rare, per my request), wrapped in bacon, and served with a delicious bourbon mushroom sauce that had me nearly licking the plate clean. The menu isn't huge - but the food they offer is well-prepared and tasty.
Overall, I'd stay here again and recommend you do the same.
