I made a trip to Toronto for the day and this was on my list of places I wanted to visit during my day. We don't have many gourmet doughnut shops where I live, so I wanted to make an effort to get one while I was in town. I can honestly say I could have went to Tim Hortons (or even Sobeys/Zehr's) in my own city and been just as happy.
I give them credit for the different and creative creations they come up with. It's nice to see something different other than your standard doughnut you can get at Tim Hortons, but even Tim's is upping their game a bit and adding some creative additions. I got the Skor doughnut and I was pretty excited about it, but it fell flat for me. I was expecting it to be a filled doughnut, since I find most raised doughnuts typically are, but once I got to the centre there was nothing to be seen. It was basically a plain and rather flavourless raised doughnut with a thin glaze of chocolate and a couple crumpled up pieces of Skor on top. Disappointing to say the least.
I treat myself every so often and this wasn't worth the calories or the price. I definitely could have spent $1.00 on a doughnut at Tim's and been more satisfied. I can't say I'd never try it again and go with a different flavour if I passed by, but next time I'm in town I can't say I'd make a special trip to get one like I did this time around.
