This review is about the light show "aura" ft as one of Montreal's 375th anniversary series. I was really looking forward to this show as the creators are know for the lighting of the Jacques Cartier bridge and have heard a lot of positive feedback about it from colleagues and friends. The show runs until October. I purchased my ticket online for 25$ on the ticketpro website. 1$ charge for tickets to be texted or emailed - really?
I showed up on time at 7 pm on a Saturday with my friend, the basilica was packed to full capacity. We measled our way into the middle of some empty spots- as the show started - the narrative recording mentioned "welcome to the second part of the show.." I was confused for that instant - I thought I missed the first half of the show -until some people overheard my conversation and mentioned the "first half of the show" was to walk around and explore the basilica. Not mentioned on the ticket!
The actual content of the show was neat with its interplay of laser lights, music and animated graphics - including change of seasons, etc.. But i would not have paid 25$ for the show! It was way too short for the price you pay. Still cool, but those on a budget - save a dime and go watch the water show called Avudo for free! By the science centre - more worth your time and dollar!
