  • If you give a DAMN about modern marvels, then Hoover DAM is a must visit. The very first time I saw it was in the middle of the night on our way to play in a college softball tournament in Vegas. It is so flamin' hot during the summer that I would certainly recommend a visit here at night time to see it all lit up and then a tour as early in the morning as possible. Speaking of tours, power plant tour tickets can be purchased online, but not for the dam tour. We participated in the power plant tour with our two toddlers and my husband's service dog. Adults = $15. Kids (ages 4-16) = $12. The younger kiddos are free. Only service dogs are allowed and they're free. Discounts are offered to military and senior citizens. This tour was a breeze aside from the fact that there were too many people in our group for my liking. We got to see some amazing features of the dam... watched a presentation about its history... the facts and statistics were just astonishing to me. The tour guides were funny, but they don't offer many chances to ask questions as the tour is so short.
