  • My wife, dog and I have nothing but praise for this organization and our assigned trainer Nate. We have a delightful rambunctious loving rescue Shetland Sheepdog, Meeko, who was given up by his former owners because of his tendency to act out in public especially around traffic - in particular he loves to attack buses and trucks. We were initially fine and thought we could handle it when we got him but, after he got comfortable with us, these old habits began to reemerge and we became afraid he'd get away one day and kill himself. We tried other solutions and another dog trainer but they failed or were not taking our concerns as seriously as we needed and out of desperation, we called Paw & Order and were set up with Nate. Within the first session, we felt very confident that we had made the right decision - Nate essentially described exactly what the behavior was based on his breed and personality and told us that he felt reasonably confident that he'd have it under control in two sessions! While our dog is definitely a smart dog, I did think this was a bit overconfident. Strangely though, based on our initial conversation and his overall appropriate assessment of the dog, I actually kind of believed it could work. And guess what - we're two more sessions in and the three of us walked by the bus depot and the dog just handled it. Next steps are to make the behavior stick when we walk him alone and then we begin off leash training. The price point here may seem high compared to local competitors - but depending on the situation you're in it is definitely more than fair - we really needed this - and the open-ended nature of the arrangement allows for long term support which makes it even more fair and probably cheaper in the end depending how much work the dog needs. When Nate comes - he's often with us for 2 hours or more and is in contact throughout the week. Of note, they do use balanced training and initially I was very pessimistic about it. This being said, I had actually considered it because I was afraid this wonderful dog was going to harm himself or someone else. Nate worked me into it as much as he did Meeko - and having Nate handle and explain the bare minimum of what we needed to do to get Meeko under control has made me more comfortable with the experience and made me confident in Meeko's safety. In summary, if you have a dog that needs a serious intervention, these guys are pros and you can trust them. My wife and I are nothing but happy with the results and we look forward to future successes and making our great dog the best dog.
