Me Gusta!
I work in Hughes Center and have been pretty stoked to dine at this super posh off strip Latin inspired restaurant!
FOOD:
The Queso Bandito $8 arrived piping hot and amazingly delicious! Highly recommended starter.
Habanero Shrimp $22 When I read Habanero from the menu I was honestly expecting to exhale fire like a dragon but with some reassurance from our very informative server Natalie the Habanero was actually more savory and not spicy at all. (I was totally pleased) The shrimps are big and plentiful, the veggies were perfect and the tamale was flavorful. Moment of silence for the upscale presentation!!
Great wine selection (Cabernet) $11.00
La Pinata $11.00 perfectly crafted cocktail!!
Serrano Brownie $8.00 was lick the plate clean worthy!
FREE GUAC W/ YELP C/I: Most of it slid right off the "plate" and overall wasn't worth the painful wait!
The Fried Fish Tacos $21 Unsatisfactory dish! For such a bold restaurant I was expecting more flavor and regrettably, it was bland. I was uber excited to try the Mexican street corn and it was a total let-down!! Dry, equally bland and gross! The yelp pictures are deceiving or I wasn't lucky enough last night to get a good batch!
SERVICE: The service started sooo slow & literally took 25 minutes for guacamole. I had to remind my server and so did the nearby table before a gentleman finally delivered it. Another gentleman attempted to clear my queso off the table without even asking! Can you believe that? I gave him the evil eye instead of a piece of my mind. As a result he put it back down quickly!! There was plenty left (uncertain how he missed that). Natalie definitely recovered in the service area on behalf of her co-workers; which made my outdoor dining experience decent. Great restaurant concept but some employees lack confidence like it's their first day. Walking in circles and continually asking what we ordered became annoying after a long work day!
$88+ tip
Unsure if I'll return anytime soon and that feeling sucks because they are nearby my office.
