My boyfriend and I bought a groupon for this place. We arrived at 3:30 on a very hot sunday. The tour did not start until 4:15! Now you might think a Christmas Story house wouldn't be packed on a June sunday afternoon, but you would be wrong. So initially we were bummed we had to wait so long., but in all honesty that was our fault for not checking. As it turned out there is a very large airconditioned gift shop to meander through while you wait. We were also able to check out historic cars and the houses back yard ahead of time. Although crowded the tour was full of happy excited fans of this classic movie. Everyone took turns and it didn't feel claustrophobic. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about not only the movie and cast, but about the history of the house and Cleveland. He was really excited and was more than happy to take people's photos. You could tell he really loved his job and was proud to be there. Included with the tour of the house is another tour of a museum across the street. This house contained clothes and props from the movie along with pictures from behind the scenes. It was really interesting and is a must see for anyone who has seen the movie. And if you haven't seen the movie, ....well you must see the movie. It is a true Christmas gem.
They also have a fundraiser set up to help renovate the rest of the neighborhood houses. It is a "thank you for putting up with the traffic. " I thought that was an awesome touch and is helping our fellow community.
