| - I am giving Herbs & Rye a low star rating solely for the poor management of reservations. This is the 4th time I have been here in the last month and a half (on various nights of the week, weeknights & weekends), and ALL FOUR TIMES I have been sat significantly past my reservation time (and I have always arrived before my reservation time). Each time the host team has simply apologized and said that they were running a bit behind. Once is understandable. Twice is acceptable. Now I am simply questioning why I continue to return to this restaurant. (The reality is, I keep coming back because the food, cocktails & service staff are all 5 star, but this will only go so far if I am always waiting over 30 minutes past my reservation time.)
To add insult to injury for tonight's reservation, I had confirmed that we would have a child in our party when H&R called to confirm this afternoon. 21 minutes past our initial reservation time, I got the text saying that our table was ready. When we went inside to be seated, they told us that the table they had for us was in the bar, and we would have to wait for a table in the dining room because of the child. This was infuriating, as, Again, I confirmed with them this afternoon that there was a child in our party; this was not new information. We were finally sat 20 minutes later, 40 minutes past our initial reservation time, and 55 minutes after arriving at the restaurant.
I would like to reiterate that this is not the first time that this has happened; had it been the first time, I would have written it off as an off night for the restaurant. This wait time has become all too consistent. If this issue is fixed the next time I dine here (if there is a next time at this point), I will gladly update my review/rating. This has been my favorite restaurant in town for a few years now, and I am having a difficult time wanting to go back.
Joe, our server, was outstanding. He was 5 Stars all the way.
