| - First of all, this experience started on Groupon, advertised as newly renovated rooms, which apparently means very little to nothing to the staff here judging by the poorly repainted and a dirty room upon checking in. I asked to upgrade my room, cordially willing to pay, but was met with an unwarranted attitude and frankly, markedly rude behavior by an already irate front desk clerk. Her behavior was frustratingly very unwillingness and unhelpful demeanor with her rolled eyes at the mere mention of any dissatisfaction and an ostensibly defensive position wagging her neck and head as if this were my fault that I was staying here. Front desk provided no recognizable form of hospitality I could validate.
Hospitality, aside, I asked if the room was nonsmoking, to which she replied that this is a nonsmoking hotel. My guess is she's never set foot in this room. The smell of the room proved her reply to be a lie, or just a standard response to a substandard room whose odor was a mixture of stale mothballs used to cover up a smoked filled room. I was given dirty towels, definitely brown stained. Hairs in the bed sheets as if the staff simply refolded the sheets from the previous guest. Mold in the bathroom was another indication of neglect along with the cracks and stains virtually every corner of this room covered up by sloppy paint job instead actual repairs.
Front desk workers should be held responsible to some degree by having employees and management walk or spot check rooms and random performance reviews on employees especially front desk to see if there are any areas of improvement.
If it seems to good to be true, it generally is and I recommend anyone with any sense not stay here. A passing glance of warning should be given along with a hard pass.
