| - From a dear friend that didn't have anyone to help her~ but I WILL tell the truth about this place!! See below my friends story~
So this place was close to the Mayo Clinic so I assumed it would be real nice. Where I am now is all brand new but shea parc is very run down. All rooms there are shared rooms and where I am now all rooms are private. Shea only had one room that was a private room that they went ahead and gave me it because I said I was really upset that if I had to use the bedside commode and had to clean myself, then I didn't want to be doing all that with someone else in the room. The walls didn't have the usual things on them like gloves for nursing staff, hand sanitizer, safe garbage disposal container for used needles, a dry erase board telling you name of nurse for that day, etc. My current place has all that in every room.
Most of the employees were really nice and tried to be helpful but they are short handed and they can't be everywhere at once so I don't blame the staff, but I do blame the management. They had a habit of coming in the room and turning off the call light and saying they would be back and then they wouldn't come back for long periods of time. The one time it took two hours for them to finally come back and by then I had an accident. Another time I was on a bed pan and it was hurting and digging into me and the girl came in, turned OUT the light and said she needed to finish removing breakfast trays and she would be back. I was like, oh ok so breakfast trays are more important right now then helping me get cleaned up and off of this bed pan? I know it's not the most glamorous job, and I felt bad enough that they have to do that and I don't feel right complaining.
Now this is my take~ If you're in this profession then you best damn well be caring for these people in a decent, respectful and proper way. I've seen rehabs places here and in NY and they are UGLY.
The majority of people in these kind of
establishments are cold and callous. They don't give a damn about these human beings in need of help. If a loved one is not present watching their every move then they completely neglect them. EVERYTHING happens in these places and they will LIE when an accident does arise just because they can due to a family or friend that wasn't able to be there to witness it. Clean up your act people, because one day YOU will be in need and you won't want to be treated in the same manner and judgment day won't be a breeze for any of you that this applies to.
