  • Everything about our experience this evening at Mama Ricotta's was good but not outstanding. We came in fairly early and were seated immediately, which was nice. They provide free bread and oil, but the bread didn't seem very fresh at all so we didn't touch that other than a few bites. For an appetizer, we started with the goat cheese and mascarpone dip. The tomato sauce was great, and the tangy cheese provided a good balance of flavors. For our entrees, my girlfriend ordered the pollo bianco and I got the lasagna. The pollo bianco was really good - the mushroom gravy went well with the mashed potatoes and chicken, and the broccoli and cauliflower were amazing except for 2 broccoli florets that were severely burnt! The lasagna I had was good, but it was a bit too cheesy for me. Don't get me wrong, I love cheese..but it really just tasted like layers of lasagna noodles with a bit of ricotta between them and a ton of mozzarella melted on top with a bit of tomato and meat sauce on the side. I would have loved for a bit more flavor throughout. Our waiter was a bit awkward as well. He did a good job keeping glasses full, taking orders, etc. but just seemed like he wasn't sure how to interact with us. All in all, the food and service were solid, and I'd be willing to come back..but I also wasn't blown away by any aspect.
