| - After having a horrific (and now, very public) experience at Felichia Bridal, I called frantically to a couple of places on Sunday morning of February 28th because my MOH and mother had travelled from Ottawa to help me find my dress that weekend.
I spoke with Barbara on the phone who listened to a 30 second recap of my nightmare experience and offered to let me come in and try on a few dresses. She said upfront that she may not be able to give me the full service that I would deserve, but that they would do their best.
I went there for 2pm that day and met Barbara right away. I was particularly interested in separates after falling in love with some at Felichia and Barbara showed me the ones that they had on hand. But she really did give me full reign-- told me to look around and said that I could try on any dresses that I liked. Because she's the in-house designer, what's also wonderful is that they can customize a ton of dresses for you. So if you like the top of one and the bottom of an another-- sure! Anything you want. The store is nice and a good size. It was very busy, but not overwhelming. I still had full access to view the gowns, which was both appreciated and a surprise.
Just not being at Felichia may have had me looking at the dresses with rose-coloured glasses, but honestly- I found a dress that I liked in 30 minutes and threw down my deposit. I'm not crazy in love with it, but I chalk that up to the overall experience I had that weekend, which was quite sour to say the least. None of that sourness is directed at Becker's. I was shopping under duress. I think the dress will be pretty when it comes in and I try it on again and get it tailored to my body.
Bottom line-- I couldn't have asked for better service from them and I'm so lucky that there's stores out there (Sash & Bustle, Diva Bridal Boutique, Jealous Bridesmaids to name a few more) who understand how important this experience is and should be for brides to be. Sure, my experience didn't go as it should have- but at least it started off well and ended relatively well.
I'm looking very much forward to seeing my dress again in a few months. I keep looking at a photo of it and thinking, "That's a good one," so I'm definitely not going to let this experience ruin the rest of my wedding planning.
Thank you again a million times for helping me out in a time of dire need!
