  • UPDATE: Upon calling Halo and explaining the situation they deeply apologized and said that normally no animal leaves their facility in that kind of condition they just hadn't noticed the problems she had. They issued a refund being that Bella was meant to be a truck drivers dog and no longer can do that, but when she is ready to be adopted she will be coming back to our loving home and be a family dog! We overall are just so happy with the outcome and the situation because we truly love her and can't wait for her to be home with us at her furever home, we are so happy with Halo and the management there. Thank you for all your help and we definitely will adopt our future animals from here because of how much they care for their animals. We recently adopted a dog from this shelter and instantly fell in love with her. She was the sweetest dog ever and was very relaxed which we were surprised because she was 8 months old so naturally we expected her to be much more upbeat. Upon getting her home she was very reluctant to go outside for walks and didn't want to go to the bathroom she had a very bad limping problem and fur missing on the top of her nose and side of her legs. After the limping persisted for 2 days we took her to our vet and got X-Rays done along with skin tests to see why she was missing fur. Our Vet came back in with horrible news letting us know she had mange (so she was literally being attacked by bugs constantly in pain) and she had hip dysplasia. Our vet informed us the hip dysplasia she had was one of the worst he'd seen she had absolutely no hip socket for the bone to go into, and her left hip barely had one. He informed us she needed a full hip replacement for both hips that would range from $10,000-$20,000.... obviously we couldn't afford that and ultimately had to take her back after spending $305 adoption fee and over $400 at the vet to find all this out and not getting to keep her is the most heart breaking thing we've had to go through..... she touched our hearts in the short amount of time we had her and being that they only give you a voucher for another animal is sad because it's hard to get over the animal you previously had. Ultimately I wish they themselves would have noticed the hip problems she was in a lot of pain and I'm astonished at the fact they didn't notice the mange and treat her for it. Our family and child has been left heartbroken.
