  • I hate that I have to live two states away in Colorado, knowing that amazing sushi is so far away. I think about JJANGA almost weekly when I crave sushi and realize that the stuff around here just doesn't cut it. We went to JJANGA at the tail end of our wedding weekend, hours before our return flight home. We wanted something off-strip, affordable and AYCE. We wanted to be able to drive there, park without a valet, and then return our rental car in time. Yelp led us to JJANGA and I can't wait to go back. I love the vibe of the restaurant. It's heavy in dark woods with booths that sort of resemble pagodas. There's a nice long sushi bar tucked in the back. The sushi bar was popular but we were lucky to score two seats right in the middle of the sushi-making action. I can't remember everything we tried but the rolls were innovative and plentiful. The sushi chef handed us small bites and tastes along the way. I think JJANGA's special hook is their "burritos," which are small bundles of fish or rice noodles and fish or other fixings wrapped in soy paper. We ordered one that was wrapped in pink soy paper and drizzled with a pink sauce. Fish was premium and veggies were fresh. I didn't feel like I was eating AYCE. Most AYCE sushi restaurants shove you full of rice, mostly, and make you want to calculate the price of each roll so you can ensure you've gotten your $30 worth of food. This sushi restaurant makes you want to take a minute to appreciate the cuts of fish and their garnishes. I'm not sure how long JJANGA has been open but I hope they don't make too many changes to their menu, philosophy or prices before we can get back to Las Vegas. I know it will be near the top of our list of restaurants to visit the next time we have a weekend getaway.
