| - I was really excited when we first toured this school and when my son first started! They seemed to really be involved, caring, and organized. That was short lived...we were only there for six short weeks/2 days a week and everything changed! In six weeks the Director resigned, Assistant Director resigned, and his main teacher is no longer his teacher- all of this with little to no communication to us as a parent. Drop off was extremely tough- nearly every morning (as expected for little ones) but never seemed to get better. When I would bring him in- there was always one teacher in the classroom with 15-18 toddlers sitting on a chair staring at her ipad. She wasn't interacting or even supervising the children around her. So, when my child told me that kids were "mean" at school and he was getting hit, it is hard not to believe him because I could see first hand every morning there was little to no supervision of the children. When I asked my son what he did when the other children hit him, he shared (on multiple occasions) that he told the teacher and the teacher told him to "shut up."
There were also two different occasions that I got messages about my child being at the school eating breakfast, laying down for nap, etc. and he WASN'T even there!!!! I then was told one day "he had a BAD day." After discussing further, he really had a tough 10 minutes with a teacher that clearly didn't want to deal with him crying, but had a really good day of interacting, following directions and playing the other 6 hours. They don't seem to even know the children they send messages about or tell parents about at pick up.
They are short staffed (direct words from their Assistant Director) causing staff to have to be pulled to help with breaks and really have to multi task, which all impacts the care and experience the children are receiving! Which I do understand is part of child care facilities, but in 6 weeks they have had nearly a complete staff turnover in their facility.
I attempted to discuss concerns with the Assistant Director but she wasn't concerned at all that my child didn't feel safe there, that he shared on multiple occasions that he is being hit, teachers tell him to shut up, my observations of not being supervised, that I get messages for him when he isn't even there or messages that aren't even accurate regarding my child. I would strongly encourage parents to reconsider bringing your child here- not safe for kids!
