| - I have been here a couple of times now so I feel comfortable in saying that this is a solid comedy club. I have enjoyed the comics and the drinks, and each night has been a good time. I have gotten some of the food and it's edible. As I have said in other reviews, I firmly believe in judging a spade only as a spade, and to me a comedy club should be judged on the diversity and quality of its comic and that's about it. I have never gone to a club for its menu, service, or ambience. In fact, I except clubs to be dingy, to have mediocre food, and to serve decent drinks, at best. So with that in mind, I think this is a 4-star comedy club.
For instance, the Punch Line in Atlanta is a famous comedy club. Many comics, such as Patton Oswald, have performed their numerous times in their career. On a good day it looks like its fighting off a mold infestation. However, its a wonderful place and I'll go time and again.
Anyway, this place is dark and in the basement of a dingy hotel. There is ample parking. You can buy well drinks for about $7 and $1 more gets you slightly better liquor. The food menu is basic but edible. If you're looking for fine dining, maybe you should try someplace in the area and *then* come to the Comedy Cave. The service is also just ok - I don't think I have seen more than two wait staff at any given time.
I would definitely check out their website as they list the comics that are coming up. You can watch their videos and see who you like. I think it makes the experience better if you actually enjoy the comedy. :-) or you can roll the dice - its $10 per ticket (and $5 some nights) so it's a great way to get out of the house for less than the cost of a movie.
