  • Hard to call it a strip hotel since you have to walk through a mall called the Desert Passage to get to it, the Aladdin (soon to be the Planet Hollywood) Hotel & Casino is not so bad for a place to stay when visiting Sin City. The casino is quite small compared to some of the other properties and is done well with lots of space and a very large circular bar in the middle. Spread out over 2 floors, the casino floor is surrounded by restaurants such as P.F. Chang's and the Spice Market Buffet. The good thing about the mall being there is that there are a ton of low cost dining options to choose from like Cheeseburger's, Blondies, Sbarro and Las Cantina so you don't need to spend $25 on breakfast at hotel when your pockets are disturbingly empty after a night at the tables. In addition there are lots of high end shops where you can spend your winnings on things like autographed sports and movie memoribilia and designer jeans, and there is also a Gap in case you need some quick cheap duds. Also worthy of mention is the convenience store in the Desert Passage that sells 1 litre bottles of water for $0.99, better than spending $5 on the same bottle in your hotel room. I'd say the biggest drawback is the lack of a monorail stop, but then again the monorail system is so ass backwards (since you have to walk mikes through hotel/casino just to get to it) that you're probably better off taking cabs everywhere.
