  • Pinky's is a good spot to head when you're hungover on New Year's Day. There was about a 20 minute wait since I guess everyone else had the same idea, but the tantalizing smells made it all worth it. We were both hungry so we ordered a large basket of fried pickles. Because it was so busy, we were seated next to another couple at a table that could hold a 4-top. However, they ordered a small basket of fried pickles, and our orders were delivered to one another. Luckily, the small basket wasn't small at all, so we were fine with it. Any more would have been too many fried pickles, anyway. They were perfectly fried, the batter was nice and crispy, and the pickles were juicy and salty. I had requested a side of spicy ranch, which worked perfectly with them, but they otherwise came unadorned. I think they should at least be served with some kind of dipping sauce. For my meal, I got a Mammoth burger (two patties) with everything (mayo, LTO, pickles), cheddar cheese, and some fresh jalapenos. The menu states that all burgers are cooked to medium well, a shade above the medium I normally like my burgers, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They absolutely nailed it - this was the best burger I'd had in years. The patties were perfectly seasoned, and they must use a lot of fat in their grind because even cooked to medium well, they were very very juicy. The jalapenos lightened the burger and added some welcome kick. I would eat one of these burgers every day if it wouldn't give me heart disease. For my side I got onion rings, which the server warned were "cut really thin", which I was fine with. The problem here is that they weren't onion rings...they were onion straws. No rings to be found. The onions were cut so thinly that it was mostly batter, and after sitting in the container for a few minutes while I enjoyed my burger, they kind of steamed to a soft consistency and weren't terribly enjoyable so I only ate about half of them. I'd recommend either renaming them onion straws on the menu to avoid misleading the clientele, or adjusting the recipe so they're actually rings of onion. Remember how our pickles order got messed up with the other couple at our table? The same exact thing happened with our entrees as well. Luckily we easily resolved it, but it was still a slight misstep. Overall, this was a very encouraging first trip and I will definitely be back. Aside from a couple bumps in the road for the service, and the underwhelming onion straws, the burger was so amazingly good that it was enough to earn them four stars. Iron out the other issues and I'd gladly award all five.
