I came into the store to purchase a book for my boyfriend and renew my membership on Saturday 5/27/17. I returned the book the next day because my boyfriend had found a cheaper price. Returning the book was no issue, but when the sales person had to call to cancel the membership, she said they were doing maintenance so I would have to call on memorial day. I called and because I couldn't remember the address I had opened the account, which was so long ago... she transferred me to a local person where I waited fifteen minutes. She also asked about the address and I told her I could not remember as it was long ago. I said I have my debit card so can't you verify that I had just purchased it? She verified and then asked for a new mailing address so they could send me a check... Instead of crediting my card???? Wtf
Firstly, there has to be another way to verify someone's account other than their address (in cases where they move or whatever the case may be). Secondly, if Barnes and nobles is so quick to charge my debit card with the membership fee that same day /purchase, they should be quick to refund it in the same fashion. This was horrible customer service over the phone. I will never shop there again.
