My childhood memories of the Tropicana were not necessarily good ones. Honestly, it would probably be one of the last hotels I would choose to stay at. However, with the new renovations and dirt cheap price, I decided to give the Trop another chance and it did redeem itself somewhat...
Parking here sucks. There is no parking structure so you have to park outside under the blazing sun. There is one area that is covered, but it doesn't accommodate very many cars so if you get lucky you can return to a some what "cooler" car.
The hotel is still going through renovations so when you get inside there are a bunch of boards and areas you can't go to. Check in was a breeze though, I was helped by Linda who was very nice and asked if I wanted a better view of the strip and gave us a room higher in the tower. Got a room with a view of the MGM, NY NY, and I could see Paris as well.
The room was surprisingly very nice and modern looking. The bathroom on the other hand is a different story. The sink was obviously changed, but you can tell the shower and toilet were part of the "old" Tropicana. In my opinion if you're going to do a renovation go all out! Either the walls are super thin or my neighbors were super loud. I could hear their whole conversation. Not a fan of the noise factor.
Overall it is apparent that the Trop is trying to revamp itself to appeal to a new younger crowd. Can't complain about the price, but they probably have to up their price to get rid of their shoddy low end customers to make a complete turn around. I most likely would not stay again, but I see a lot of potential for them once the renovations are completed.
