  • Full disclosure, I am selling my home and have not rented in about 15 to 20 years. As a potential tenant, I visited the property with high hopes but, was immediately turned off for several reasons. Within the first 5 mins of introduction I was told that I "offended" her and she was "confused as to why I was charged-up". She, Tay, did not take the time to understand her potential customer or she would have quickly learned that I am a friendly, louder, excited, talkative guy with a 12 yo son. Instead, she referred to me on multiple occasions as "charged-up" and that I "offended" her. Throughout the meeting she pointed out that she's from New York and well traveled so she is used to different people and I was confusing to her. After a few mins of her off putting and condescending personality we decided to take a walk to the unit. As we walked she asked me a few questions about what i was looking for, commute, school etc with every answer she had a reply that was defensive, arrogant and condescending... now, I became confused... what a horrible 15/20 mins so far. Though the grounds are very well manicured and the setting is beautiful and quiet the units are in need of desperate repair and maintenance. The pool was not open and when i asked why i was told that it was undergoing some repair however, it did not look as though any work was going on with the pool. The inside of the unit we saw echoed the outside need. The kitchen appliances, carpets, linoleum, doors & bathroom facilities completely outdated and the entire unit smelled like an ashtray... my clothing smells of cigarettes as I type this. Upon leaving that unit we made our way to the second and final unit, during the walk I asked her about the local area, shopping etc (rt. 51) to my surprise she had no knowledge of the area or that the mall is closing or has closed. Shouldn't a property manager be aware of the area? She also had no helpful knowledge of the local school district and its ratings compared to surrounding schools. In conclusion, I did not go into the second unit and made my decision as we walked... I would not be renting simply because this woman, Tay. She has zero people/sales skills. She was unpleasant, extremely "fake" and full of arrogance as she portrays herself superior to others because she has "lived in NY, Miami, and London". Yuck. Just yuck. Word of advice, you have a product to sell, get to know your customers instead of word vomiting all about you.
