I'm not usually one to post reviews, pro or con, however after interacting with Animal Benefits Club first hand ... I felt compelled.
First, all the negative reviews about poor (or no) communication are true. I called, visited and submitted an application to adopt. I never heard back ... neither to deny or accept my request. I saw a couple pups that I was interested in and tried to find out more info. My initial calls were never replied to ... so I went in person. While there, I donated some bowls, toys and a dog bed that belonged to my deceased long-term companion dog. Then I tried to meet with a couple of the dogs. I was very interested in one of them and filled out an application. I never heard back. At that point I came on Yelp and saw that many people had experienced the same thing.
This was in February ... the same dogs are still on their site. I don't think they are trying to place these dogs in homes. Maybe the owner is getting grants or donations "for the dogs" and has decided to keep them for themselves. Its a shame that these poor dogs are living so long in a shelter environment where they will wither as they live out their days in pitiful conditions and little human interaction. While there I saw more than a few dogs exhibit behavior inherent to long-term confinement (spinning, barking, aggression).
Do yourself a favor and don't get your hopes up for adopting an animal through these people. Also, if you are thinking of donating money or materials ... there are plenty of more deserving organization with much better reputations.
