  • I came in yesterday evening after reading a few reviews about boba in the area, and I wasn't sure what to really expect of Brew Tea Bar. Having my fair share of Bay Area/LA boba, I was a bit skeptical of the 5 star review here. I decided to give it a shot because I noticed they have another location that also got 5 stars. Anyway, I was greeted by one worker at the door and later at the register. I was asked by the cashier if I had ever been there and I said no, so she offered to answer any questions about the menu. I noticed they had some herbal teas on the menu...some of which I hadn't heard of before and thought that was cool. I didn't really have an idea of what to get, and I knew I just wanted to try something on the menu that was milk tea based. The cashier explained that their popular options are Hokkaido and Okinawa (brown sugar based), and that she preferred the Okinawa. I decided to get that with the honey boba. Since I prefer my drinks to be less sweet, she recommended getting the drink 75% sweet and offered to replace my drink if I didn't like it. She also explained that the only sweetener they use is in the Okinawa flavor, but there are really no other added sugars or sweeteners. It was perfectly sweetened, and the honey boba was soft, yet chewy, and lightly sweetened. If you've ever been to I-Tea in the Bay Area, I'd say this Okinawa milk tea is better, because it doesn't leave the funky aftertaste of feeling like you had excess sugar (even at I-Tea's comparable 50% sweetness). Tea taste could be a bit stronger, but the tea strength was on par to other boba places. As for the price, it's pretty average...my drink came up to around $4.50 for a regular sized drink with the boba add-on. The shop itself is very spacious, clean, and visually pleasing. I didn't really notice if there were any outlets for studying, but I can definitely see it as a good study spot. Besides their milk tea, I really appreciate the great customer service. The cashier was super friendly and sweet, and walked me through their menu. I would totally give her a shout out, but I'm a bit bad with names even though she introduced me to herself. Keep up the great drinks and service!!
